Unlike traditional forms of therapy that involve time spent analyzing the impact that past experiences have on current situations and behaviors, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy focuses on finding solutions to problems in the present with the goal being faster resolution of problems. SFBT can be very beneficial for individuals who experience depression, dysfunction within their family unit, or who struggle with depression and anxiety. SFBT can also be an effective tools for individuals who are hoping to bring change to their relationships.
The main theme of SFBT is to gain a clear understanding of what goals a client may have. Therapy is then structured around identifying and implementing the changes needed to bring about the completion of those goals. Time is also spent identifying what strengths the client has that can be used in the implementing of steps to achieve their goals. By focusing time and energy on what an individual can do, rather than what they cannot do, it allows them to find solutions and make positive changes in their life more quickly.
I am a trained Solution-Focused Brief Therapist and would be happy to visit with you about the potential benefits of engaging in this form of therapy.
